Bristol City v Nottingham Forest: match preview

Published on December 17th, 2011

Steve Cotterill remains defiant and insists that Forest’s good performances mean that the results will surely start to come. However, Brizzle are still on the crest of a wave following the appointment of Derek McInnes, although these things are never plain sailing – see Seat Pitch for a Robins’ fan’s viewpoint.

For the Reds, there is some consternation over whether there will be enough centre-halves. Moose is suspended, and Wes and Lynchio have been struggling, but the gaffer says that he hopes one or the other will be fit enough. If not, I expect to see Brendan Moloney come in and either he or Gunts fill in at the heart of defence (although the Irishman is apparently struggling as well). Before you ask, Jamaal Lascelles isn’t fit either…

As with last week, I would expect to see Dexter Blackstock start on the bench for the goal-shy Reds, as he is eased back into first-team action. This makes sense, we will get far more out of him if we don’t rush him back.

As both teams have struggled following disastrous starts to the season, I am afraid that I don’t expect it to be pretty…
