Gary Speed

Published on November 27th, 2011

We would like to join the rest of the footballing community in paying tribute to Gary Speed. No, he never had anything to do with Forest, but as a player and a manager he was one of those who you would always respect, from afar, and even when he was on the opposing team.

The minute’s silence which turned into a minute’s applause at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon was incredibly moving. We are shocked and saddened and wish to express our condolences to everyone involved in Welsh football, but mostly to Gary Speed’s loved ones. Rest in peace.

Just one of those guys everybody liked and respected. What he had done with Wales was beyond all expectations.

Nobody thinks the successful suffer with depression. Nobody expects them to struggle.

    R.I.P. Gary Speed.

Incredibly shocked by the news, finding it hard to believe, he seemed fine on Football Focus yesterday. Have the utmost respect for him as a professional, great player, great role model. My thoughts are with his family.

I watched the Swansea game and that 1 minutes silence/applause was emotional, it actually brought a tear to my eye. My respect and thoughts are with his family. He will be missed.

Ian: I was listening on the radio. I too had tears in my eyes when I heard the spontaneous applause.
