A frustrating afternoon to start the new season. Despite a reasonable amount of huff and puff, Forest never really looked like scoring, and fortunately Barnsley could not capitalise on their half chances either. A new manager brought a new formation, but has not yet been able to magic up a centre forward or a left back:

The manager said that he learned nothing new from the game, and neither did we: we need a centre forward, we could do with a bit more craft and guile (as George Boateng eloquently pointed out after the match), Chris Cohen can play left-back but doesn’t look that happy there, and Goldie is the new scapegoat. Oh yeah, and hearing fans boo a 0-0 draw on opening day makes you want to cry into your beer.

F*cking disgraceful those that booed are.
What the He’ll!! Why put McGoldrick up front alone??First thing Hasslebank needs to tell him is to at least look like he’s interested!
On this performance he doesn’t deserve to wear the shirt ! And Lewis, your one of my favourite players but you slipped and fell over while in possession 4 times today and finally Mr Anderson please try shooting once in a while at the end of your wonderful surging runs
I don’t condone anyone booing or jeering Forest players, but Goldie is one of the worst players in the Championship. He runs a lot but not much else.
While booing is counter productive at the best of times, never mind the opening game of the season. Playing the part of devils advocate, maybe the frustrations of close season transfer dealings (Or lack of) spilled over.
I thought it was a typical forest display from the previous couple of seasons, by no means dreadful, but not instilling confidence in us supporters that a promotion push could be on the cards.
It didn’t feel much different from last season, but why should it. Largely the same players, largely the same weaknesses, why anybody thought we were going to bang in goals for fun is beyond me, we must have the weakest front line, I can remember, and surely not a promotion winning strikeforce…
In short, I think the season will be much the same as last, but with not as many goals, so therefore no play offs this year, unless the powers that be back the new manager…
One game, one point, no goals conceded, no injuries.
Booing is bad enough, but imagine you’re a player, pushing for a goal in the last 10mins. Only to notice that 75% of the seats are emptying! Not good enough, REAL FANS STAY TIL THE END!
