I just couldn’t keep up today – the day started off with me reading all kinds of rumours on the interweb but not having a chance to write about it. The juiciest (and newest) titbit is the notion that Forest are seeking to sign Wayne Routledge; QPR have apparently backed out of a deal to sign the Newcastle winger, and Forest are hoping to beat Birmingham to his signature, no doubt lubricated by Routledge’s friendship with Dexter Blackstock from their days together at Loftus Road.
The same article also backs up the suggestion that Colin Calderwood will turn down the Blues to rejoin the staff at the City Ground, but then it also links us with Leon Best, so it’s anyone’s guess…
The Evening Post reported on Friday that they had expected Colin to return to Forest by now, but so far that hasn’t materialised; but they did confirm our assertion that Giles Barnes is a transfer target, which was also confirmed by Steve McClaren, who has made a point of saying that Forest need to make a “statement of intent” in the transfer market.

Although that statement of intent will no longer include Nicky Shorey, perhaps it will include Irish duo Keith Andrews and (that man again) Andy Reid, who according to the Daily Mail will add some much-needed experience to the Forest midfield; if true, Andrews would be a fine replacement for Paul McKenna, who is expected to depart the City Ground for Hull in the next few days.
Oh yeah, as yet unconfirmed officially, but Neil Lennon tweeted to say that Celtic and Forest may well meet up pre-season. With Casual Kelv and Fatboy amongst their ranks, as well as Lennon managing, that could be a bit tastier than the average pre-season kickabout…
