I heard a rumour 2011 (part 2)

Published on June 2nd, 2011

Another rambling round-up of rumours that have been reported on the interwebs. Remember, just because you read it here, doesn’t mean it’s true.

Could the Moose be on the loose? Apparently Stoke and Everton are sniffing around (although probably not, if they saw him play for us in the run-in). In the meantime, Brizzle City deny that they are sniffing around after Forest defender Joel Lynch.

There is certainly speculation that everyone’s favourite Irish fat lad, Andy Reid, is eyeing up a return to the City Ground, and he is often seen around Nottingham where I think he still has some business interests. However, some sources claim that Preston wideman Keith Treacy (a player I mentioned in our end-of-season podcast) is on the Reds’ shopping list, and there could be a swap deal involving Forest skipper Paul McKenna. In the meantime, Forest may be interested in Chelsea youngster Jack Cork, who has spent much of the last two years on loan at Burnley, who will surely have dibs on him.

With ex-player Garry Birtles (did he mention that he used to play for Manchester United?) complaining about Forest’s poor PR, the rumours persist that Forest are willing to let Billy go (and I suspect that the wee man is delighted with that state of affairs); depending on who you believe, Forest have lined up either Malky Mackay, Derek McInnes or Chris Hughton for the hotseat. Fortunately, there has been no word that the Reds are eyeing up dour Scouser Dave Jones, after his release by Cardiff, although some people reckon that Billy Davies could be going the other way.

Finally, could this be the new Forest home shirt? God knows – to me it looks like our kit circa 1990 with the current sponsor’s logo added in via the magic of Photoshop!
