1865: Nottingham Forest Football Club in the Coca Cola Championship

That was the week that wasn’t…

So another week draws to a close, and as of Thursday night, still no signings, the paper-thin squad looks positively see-through and was defeated by Lyon (who, to be fair, are quite good). In the meantime, Billy Davies has fielded questions from (occasionally irate) fans, and denied any rift with the board.

I am not going to bother commenting on continuing rumours about Shorey, Pratley or Whittingham – to be honest I have had enough and I just want someone to say either “they’ve signed” or “they won’t sign”. I guess this is par for the course in the Internet age (is that me biting the hand that feeds?).

The announcement of the new squad numbers was a bit of a damp squib – no numbers 2 or 3, the only numbers that change are Thornhill and Moloney being restored to 26 and 27 respectively, and they aren’t even keeping Joe Garner’s number warm for him. But the new kit was launched, with an event at Nottingham Riviera; as your intrepid reporter I went down to Slab Square and found, erm, not much happening – a few promo people wearing the new kit (looks quite snazzy in the flesh) and handing out leaflets, including a couple on stilts, and Robin Hood. While I would still prefer the return of Sherwood, Robin was friendly enough but didn’t say much (maybe he recognised me as the man who campaigned against his introduction), and happy to pose for a piccy:
