Nottingham Forest 1 – 3 Derby County: podcast and match report

Published on February 21st, 2009

A pretty downbeat podcast; following Billy’s interview in midweek we were waiting to see what effect his words had on our young, depleted, squad. And we saw the result today; in a side with two surprise returns, but bereft of confidence and ideas.

Smith, Chambers, Morgan, Breckin, Heathy, Anderson, McGugan, Perchio (c), Cohen, Tyson, Earnshaw.

It certainly seems Davies has less rapport with the players than Calderwood and tactically the last few games have been lacking in the spirt we saw earlier on – the players have certainly not got confidnece from his rather crass remarks – if the squad is simply not good enough he doesnt need to keep saying this – he needs to do something about it – still dont know why we havent got loan players in …..its getting very worrying – the common denominator
is Doughty and Arthur – they are simply not up to financing and runing a championship set up ( forget the prem) – and I think league one is where they feel more comfortable ….so that will be that the poor fans of Forest have had enough …..

why do you muppets keep moaning about doughty? you have a man there who quietly has put millions after millions into your club. other clubs (including mine) would love to have a chairman like that. if you want more financial clout more of you should turn up on a saturday.

Shed – I suspect supporters of many other clubs are also envious of our chairman. To my knowledge he has never denied funds to any of our managers (despite the urban myth that he trod on Paul Hart’s toes).

Our main problems seem to be a Chief Exec who has the responsibility for running the club, but arguably couldn’t run a piss-up in a brewery (and I suppose that, in turn, is the chairman’s fault), but mainly that we sacked a manager who struggled to get results, but built excellent team spirit, to be replaced by one who vents his spleen publicly and blames everyone but himself…

Redrob, welcome to the wild world of Billy Davies. What running down the team, telling them and anyone who’ll listen that they’re not good enough? You only find out how good a manager is in the tough times. We found Billy out in our woeful Premier season. All of the above, plus the point that he had bought most of them. I wish you luck, you’ll need it. Shame you passed over Nigel, because of his lack of experience. Up the Ram’s and keeping the Clough cup for the foreseeable future.
